Last week I chaired a freelancer breakfast workshop for Wired Sussex. We were discussing with the audience what it takes to make it as an independent consultant. And where better than to host this than the home of the freelancer, Brighton.
I was joined by Kate Saker (a freelance creative director) and Richard Nash (a very talented illustrator). We shared our highs, lows, challenges and love of working independently.
My highlights included:
- How to manage time between the bread & butter work and “the jam”
- The importance of structure, reward and bonuses
- And networking, without feeling like an Apprentice candidate
